The striking bay window of a Victorian residence in Harrogate has been treated to some tender loving care by timber sash window specialists Ventrolla, restoring its dilapidated appearance back to its original beauty.
Mrs. Bloomfield lives in the ground floor flat of the property and grew concerned about her ageing sashes after experiencing cold draughts coming through her windows.
Luckily Ventrolla was on hand to provide the restoration effort needed to transform the 100-year-old sashes back to their former glory.
Firstly, an inspection was made on the large bay window where it was recommended that a complete overhaul would need to be carried out.
The window was carefully removed from its original frame and the decaying timber spliced out to expose the sound timber beneath. Slim double-glazed units were hand-crafted to replace the original sliding sashes, using traditional methods of carpentry to retain the period features.
The unique Ventrolla Perimeter Sealing System (VPSS) was installed into the sashes to not only draught-proof the window but also reduce external noise and heat loss, helping to lower heating bills. Mrs Bloomfield said:
“The work that Ventrolla did has made a great difference to the appearance of my home. The bay window is a central feature of the flat, so it is fantastic to breathe new life into it.”
“The flat is now so much warmer too which is fantastic. I would definitely recommend the services of Ventrolla as the finished product really suits the aesthetic features of the building. The work only took a couple of days as well and the workmen were very friendly and considerate – a job well done.”
With over 30 years’ experience, Ventrolla offers a tailored range of period window solutions. Their unique service includes draught-proofing with the Ventrolla Perimeter Sealing System (VPSS) and fitting replacement Double-Glazed sashes that incorporate the patented Sash Removal System (SRS) for easy painting and future maintenance.
