Sash window renovation specialist Ventrolla has successfully solved a 20 year noise and draught problem at a Cambridge home, in just ten days.
Ventrolla’s Cambridge and Essex team were called in to renovate and repair six wooden sash windows at the Victorian property belonging to Marion Stewart.
Since moving to the house in 1985, Mrs Stewart had experienced great difficulty with her windows. Years of heavy wind and rain had gradually deteriorated the sealant around the windows, causing severe draught problems. The window hinges had also seized up, making them extremely difficult to open.
As part of the £4,000 renovation project, the sashes were first stripped back in order to expose the ‘sound’ timber. The cords were replaced and the pulleys serviced and balanced correctly to ensure the windows operated smoothly.
New Accoya wood sills were also installed to strengthen the exterior of the window frames, followed by brass locks for added security. Mrs Stewart said:
“I am over the moon with Ventrolla’s work. The draught from the downstairs window had been bothering me for years, especially in the winter when the wind picks up.”
“I can now open my windows properly for the first time in 20 years without straining myself.”
“The service Ventrolla provided was second to none. They even cleaned up after themselves when they’d finished, not leaving a speck of dust.”
Ventrolla offers a bespoke renovation service for timber sliding sash and casement windows, as well as timber doors. The company has its central office in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, with additional locations throughout the UK and Ireland.
