Sash window renovation specialist, Ventrolla, have provided invaluable skills to help refurbish a landmark educational facility in central Stoke. Staffordshire University appointed architects Hulme Upright to carry out renovations on its historic Cadman Centre, which houses the university’s library and administrative offices. Ventrolla carried out work at the university, renovating around 140 sliding timber sash windows on the two storey building. David Perkin, associate for Hulme Upright said:
“Some of the windows were damaged and wedged in an ‘almost shut’ position. This led to draughts in the winter and little air in the summer. Now all the windows are functioning again and staff and students are delighted with the results.
Our biggest challenge was completing the work while the building was still fully functional and occupied. We adopted a rolling programme, completing one room at a time and causing as little disruption as possible.”
A spokesperson for Ventrolla, said: “We are delighted to be involved with the restoration of such a beautiful landmark building. We are committed to carrying out work to the highest possible standards and Staffordshire University are really pleased with the vast reductions in noise and draughts that have been achieved.”
Ventrolla’s central office is based in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, with offices throughout the UK and Ireland, and offers a bespoke renovation service for timber sliding sash and casement windows as well as timber doors. Their unique Ventrolla Perimeter Sealing System (VPSS) improves the window’s performance and energy efficiency.
